How many children are there in a class?
Numbers in classes depend on age group. These vary from 6 children in groups without parents in the water and up to 8 bubbas in baby classes.
-
How long are the sessions?
Each session lasts 30 minutes.
-
Can both of my children swim in one class?
It depends on their age and ability - our priority is to offer siblings back to back classes or if possible in the same group. Please contact us and we would be happy to discuss possible options.
-
Can we do a trial before signing up?
Yes, we offer a discounted TESTER CLASS to give you a chance to see our classes before you decide to sign up.
-
Can we join classes at any time or do we have to wait until the next term?
Yes, we welcome new swimmers at any time, provided we have a space in a suitable class. The only exception are baby classes where it is important that bubbas join the class at the beginning of the term due to specifics of learning programme for this age group.
-
Does my child need any goggles for their swimming?
According to STA (Swimming Teachers Associations), it is better if goggles are not worn when children are being taught to swim. If your child hasn’t used goggles before, please do not bring them to the class. Our instructors will be happy to discuss each case individually, assessing whether using goggles would be beneficial for your little one’s learning.
-
Do I have to go into the water with my child?
It depends on your child’s age – our Little Champions swim without parents in the water generally from the age of 3.5. We always aim to adjust to children’s individual needs hence sometimes we may advise parents to stay with their little ones beyond the recommended age.
-
What does my child need to bring for their first class?
The only thing they need is a comfortable swimwear. For older children we advise to avoid baggy shorts/tops (otherwise your little one will need to work twice as hard). For all little ones who are not potty-trained, HAPPY NAPPY from Splash About (with disposable Huggies Little Swimmer underneath) is a must.
-
How do we pay for classes?
Payments need to be made via online bank transfer. We kindly ask for an upfront payment for a term or pro rata for remining sessions if you are joining during the term.
-
Is there any parking space available at the venue?
Yes, there is a car park in front of the Safari Hotel and it’s free of charge for families who swim with us. You will only need to ask a member of the hotel staff for a ticket to exit the car park without being charged.
-
I’d like my child to start swimming lessons but they are nervous/terrified of water, are they any classes that would help them overcome their fear?
Throughout all of our classes we practise a gentle approach and focus on understanding each child’s needs, fears, and potential. Our enthusiastic and supportive instructors make sure that little ones feel safe and relaxed, and that they are ready before achieving another milestone of their swimming journey.
We could tell countless stories of our Little Champions who started very nervous and fearful and how they would come to enjoy the water and continue to grow in confidence, knowledge and skills. Please see our Reviews section
here.
